Alice Fairhurst, a career coach and expert on personality types, says many facets in an individual's personality lead to success in high-satisfaction jobs. Says Fairhurst, "Introversion can be a hurdle to making the initial move in finding a new job, but other parts of one's temperament are great assets in both initial and continued success."
She lists eight great jobs for introverts, based on research of people's overall temperament and career success.
For those who pride themselves on accuracy:
* Accountant I -- Prepares balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports. Reports organization's finances to management. Education: Bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of experience. Median salary: $37-45,000.
* Pharmacist -- Compounds and dispenses prescribed drugs in a healthcare or retail facility. Education: Bachelor's degree and/or an advanced degree in pharmacy and license to practice. Median salary: $98-110,000.
For those who value boldness and challenge:
* Firefighter -- Responds immediately to fires and other emergency situations. Provides protection to public and property. Education: High school diploma or its equivalent with 0-2 years of experience. Median salary: $30-50,000.
* Surgeon -- Performs surgery to prevent and correct injuries, deformities, diseases or improve patient function or quality of life. Education: Degree in medicine from an accredited school and is licensed to practice. Median salary: $240-360,000.
